Your website should be selling your venue 24/7

A venue website should not behave like a digital filing cabinet. It should help a planner understand the space, answer the obvious questions and move toward an enquiry whenever they choose to research.

The buyer has changed

Business buyers increasingly want to do substantial research before they speak to a salesperson. Gartner reported in 2026 that 67% of B2B buyers preferred a sales-rep-free experience and 70% preferred a completely digital, self-service buying experience. That does not make sales teams obsolete. It changes where the hand-off should happen.

The website needs to do the repetitive explanatory work first. A good salesperson should be spending time on fit, context, negotiation and reassurance, not repeatedly emailing floorplan PDFs and explaining which room sits next to which.

For venues, “information” is not the same as “understanding”

A static capacity chart can technically contain the right information while still leaving the buyer with work to do. They have to cross-reference room names, capacities, floorplans, layouts and photographs, then construct a mental model of the venue for themselves.

That friction matters. The buyer may be looking at several venues at once, often outside normal office hours. The easier venue to understand has a commercial advantage before anybody has picked up the phone.

Your site should qualify the enquiry

A productive venue website should let a prospect answer questions such as:

Once those questions can be answered online, an enquiry arrives with more context. The website has already done part of the sales conversation.

The aim is not to remove the human element

Complex bookings still benefit from people. Gartner's research also shows buyers seek human input when they need judgement and validation. The strongest model is therefore not “website instead of sales”. It is a website that gets the prospect further down the road before the sales team steps in.

That is exactly the role an interactive venue plan can play: make the venue understandable at any hour, then provide an obvious route into a real sales conversation.
